Run to White Ribbon Day: Join a Parkrun!

Run, don’t walk, towards a safer future for women and girls this White Ribbon Day

Get your running shoes and #ChangeTheStory for women and girls with a Parkrun this White Ribbon Day.

Every Saturday, at 9.00am, more than 150,000 people take part in Parkrun, a free, community 5k run. This year, White Ribbon Day falls on a Saturday — will you dedicate your run on the 25th of November to White Ribbon Day?

Many women choose to participate in Parkrun because it’s somewhere they feel safe, comforted by the presence of others and the time of day. A 2023 study found that ‘92% of women are concerned for their safety when they go for a run.’ We need to change this. We need to create a culture where sexist and misogynistic behaviours, such as harassing women out on their runs, are challenged — and prevented from happening in the first place.

Everyone, especially men, can help make this change. By engaging your mates in conversations about inappropriate behaviours, you can help nurture positive traits that directly combat misogynistic and sexist behaviours and values.

It's time to lace up your running shoes, pull up your socks, and get ready for your Parkrun on White Ribbon Day, 25th November.

If you’d like to take your allyship further, consider fundraising for White Ribbon UK to support the vital work we do to stop violence before it starts.

Together we can #ChangeTheStory so that women and girls can live the lives they want to lead, free from violence and the fear of violence in their everyday lives– including when they go out for a run.

P.S. Make sure that you take a selfie from your Parkrun, using #ChangeTheStory and #loveparkrun and tagging us on X, Facebook or Instagram on 25th November, White Ribbon Day.
