White Ribbon UK supports the Government announcement on the strengthened Football Governance Bill to improve Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) within the game.

The clear commitment to improve EDI highlights the need to focus on the Primary Prevention of harm and violence against women and girls, to create a more inclusive environment for everyone. It is important that we continue to engage men and boys to create positive cultural change to enable EDI initiatives to be embedded effectively. 

Tackling the root cause of men’s violence against women and girls, harmful gender norms and restrictive ideas of what it means to be a man or a woman, can also help us tackle other forms of discrimination.

We look forward to seeing further plans outlined and supporting our partners in football.
