AMBASSADORS & CHAMPIONS
Make a real difference in your workplace and community
REGISTER TO BECOME A WHITE RIBBON AMBASSADOR OR CHAMPION
Being a White Ribbon Ambassador or Champion is an effective and meaningful way to further your commitment to ending men’s violence against women and girls. Across the UK, our diverse network of Ambassadors and Champions advocate the White Ribbon message in their workplaces and communities and are instrumental in our work.
White Ribbon Ambassadors are men and people who identify as a man who take on this responsibility. They take the White Ribbon message into their workplaces, communities and among their friends, family and colleagues.
Our Champions are women, and people who do not identify as being a man, who promote the White Ribbon message and encourage and challenge men to get involved by finding opportunities to inspire and inform. Our Champions can hold us to account and ensure that women’s voices are heard in our work.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At the heart of White Ribbon is encouraging men to become allies in preventing men’s violence against women. White Ribbon Ambassadors are men and people who identify as a man who take on this responsibility. They will reflect on their own behaviour and look to positively influence other men to prevent violence against women. There are now nearly 2,000 White Ribbon Ambassadors who are working with us to change the cultures that lead to violence against women by being active in their communities; workplaces, schools and colleges, sports clubs, sporting events, venues and festivals.
Our Champions are women, and people who do not identify as being a man, who encourage and challenge men to get involved by finding opportunities to inspire and inform; through presentations, conversations and social media. Most importantly our Champions can hold us to account and ensure that women’s voices are heard in our work.

Their main responsibilities are:
To promote White Ribbon among their friends, colleagues and communities.

The number of White Ribbon Ambassadors and Champions should be proportionate to the size of your organisation. A good measure is to ask yourself ‘are there Ambassadors and Champions across all departments and levels?’. The White Ribbon Ambassador and Champion role is a voluntary and active role. Those who register need to be invested in the work of White Ribbon and be committed to helping their organisation deliver on their Action Plan.
We suggest, as a minimum, an organisation should have 4 White Ribbon Ambassadors. This may not be possible if you are a very small organisation, or a predominantly female and non-gender conforming workforce. You may also want to consider departments that have a greater percentage of male employees and increase the number of Ambassadors there. Please use our suggestion as a guide and build a community of Ambassadors and Champions that work for your context.
As part of your Accreditation offer, we will send you a proportionate number of Ambassador and Champion Badges to your annual fee. If you exceed this number, additional Badges can be purchased from the White Ribbon Shop: www.whiteribbon.org.uk/shop

The White Ribbon Promise is a personal commitment to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women. Although men are specifically encouraged to make the Promise, anyone over the age of 14 can make it. The White Ribbon Promise is a commitment to live your life aware of what constitutes as violence and to take reasonable steps to prevent it.
Being a White Ribbon Ambassador or Champion is a defined role as detailed above. An aspect of this role is to encourage people, especially men, to make the White Ribbon Promise.
